How the Program Works
Business Commitment: Participating businesses donate $500 and designate a mentor to support one high school junior. WBESC Workforce Navigator will work with schools to match students and mentors based on career interests and program fit.
• Six Mentor Meetings: Each mentor/mentee team meets six times by the end of the school year, outside of school or based on each student’s homeschool preferences: during a study hall, lunch, before or after school, or at another mutually agreed time.
• Team Project Funding: Each team receives $1,300 and instructions for developing and submitting a project budget. WBESC orders supplies and materials. Teams work together during meetings 2-5, anytime November through May, to solve a school, business, or community problem.
• Collaboration Option: Mentor teams may collaborate and pool their project funds to complete a larger shared project.
