Join the WBESC Substitute List!

Western Buckeye ESC is always looking for dedicated individuals to join our substitute list!

We proudly serve the school districts in Paulding and Van Wert Counties, and welcome applicants interested in working as substitute teachers or aides in any of these districts.

How to Get Started

To become a substitute, you must complete the required paperwork through the WBESC and apply for your license through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW).

Note: All applications with the Ohio Department of Education must be completed online.

Application Process

1. Complete WBESC Paperwork Packet

Contact our office with any questions you have when completeing the required paperwork packet (see below).

2. Apply Online with ODEW

Helpful instructions are included with the sub packet below when you are applying online for your license.

3. Superintendent’s Signature Requirement

During your online application, you will be prompted to enter a Superintendent's Signature.
Please use the following IRN number to locate Western Buckeye ESC:

4. Receive Your License

Once your license is finalized, you will receive an official email copy from ODEW.

5. Email Confirmation from WBESC

After all required documents have been submitted and received, WBESC will send you an email confirmation.
This message will include next steps and any additional instructions.
