WT Preschool FAQS

WT Preschool FAQS Last Updated: 2/1/2022 1:37 PM

IS THERE A TUITION FOR PRESCHOOL?

Yes, for our typically developing peers.  Cost for the 2022-2023 school year has yet to be determined.  If a student qualifies for special services, the tuition fee is waived.

HOW DO WE PRORITIZE ENROLLMENT?

Students need to be three years old on or before August 1 and potty trained if typically developing.

Wayne Trace preschool placement in the following order:

      1) Resident students with special needs
      2) Resident students who are returning preschool students
      3) New older resident students who are going to kindergarten the following year
      4) New younger resident students
      5) Open Enrollment Students

Students not accepted into the program due to capacity limits will be put on a waiting list in the same order as above, and will be notified of openings as they occur.

WHY DO STUDENTS NEED A DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING?

To be an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Preschool in a school setting, Western Buckeye and Wayne Trace must follow ODE's screening regulations. To be a 5-star rated preschool, we complete yearly developmental screenings in the five areas of development for early childhood: cognitive, fine motor, gross motor, language/communication, and social/emotional skills.

Students with a concern in these areas are referred for a special education evaluation.

Times and dates for the screening are set up by the Western Buckeye preschool staff.  Children can be brought to the screening by any family member/caregiver if the parent(s) cannot attend.

WHEN WILL WILL I KNOW IF MY CHILD HAS BEEN ACCEPTED INTO THE PROGRAM?

Letters will be mailed out the first week of July indicating whether your child has been accepted into the preschool program or has been placed on a waiting list.  However, the rosters will come out the first week of August to notify parents if their child is in the Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday section. Unfortunately, we do not take parent request for enrollment into a certain section.
