Parent Mentor Program of Paulding County

 

Through the joint efforts of several committees, made up of parents and professionals in Paulding County, the Parent Mentor concept was developed as a way of providing services to parents.  The Parent Mentor is a parent of a child with a disabbility, and is a support network to school districts and parents of children with disabilities.  For more information please click here for the full brochure.

This presentation will examine some of the differences in the laws that mandate services to be provided to students with disabilities, as well as some key terms and definitions used in the higher education environment. In addition, some of the accommodations used most frequently will be discussed, as well as a look at some of the emerging types of disabilities students are presenting with.
